Research Interest: The major objective of my research is to elucidate the molecular and cellular mechanisms associated with mood disorders, stress-related pathology, and suicidal behavior by integrating basic and clinical neuroscience to comprehensively examine the roles of neurotransmitter receptors, cytokines, neurotrophins, cellular signaling, and neural plasticity utilizing gene expression, RNA sequencing, microRNAs, and epigenetic approaches. The model systems that I have been using include human postmortem brain, peripheral blood cells, and animal models of behavioral depression and PTSD, and gene knockout mice.
